History

Dewi Emrys

Dewi Emrys

Dewi Emrys was the pen-name of the West Wales poet David Emrys James (1881 – 1952)

On the outside of this semi-detached cottage, a plaque commemorates the fact that renowned Welsh preacher and poet Dewi Emrys once lived here. Dewi Emrys won the very coveted National Eisteddfod ’Chair’ no less than four times for his work.

Unfortunately none of the chairs are at the cottage.  He had written many books and proses and most of them have been written when he lived at Y Bwthyn.
